So many people tried to get me to change the age of the kid in my fiction novel. "Thirteen is too young of an age for the main character," "It's too unbelievable..."

But what I wrote was based on real events, a real kid who was on the streets at 13, maybe younger.

I kept with the thirteen and now I finally feel like there's some credibility to my book just from reading your disturbing blog post...
