So me and Koren Zailckas read at Coliseum Books together tonight, and I forgot to bring my camera with me, but this is basically what it looked like. Plus a gorgeous audience of interesting people, including my beloveds Anne, Glick, and luckydave, my adored editor Bruce, the lovely and talented Abby Rosin, the staggeringly well-read Mike, and sparkly new friend Kate. Lots of good questions from the crowd, fielded with great charm, grace, and wit by KZ, who just glows with generosity and warmth. She 's been an enthusiastic supporter of my book (note her blurb on the back of my book!), and I am of hers -- Smashed is a real tour de force of writing, storytelling, and social revelation. As I said earlier, "I'm just glad everyone could make it out tonight for the first public meeting of the Koren and Janice Mutual Admiration Society."

See? There it is again! You must be well aware by now how much I love to see my name. And you always spell it correctly. Youdabest.
Great reading last night - what of it I caught. Gonna go buy me a Koren book next time I get paid.
And we top the evening off with Hal Sirowitz on the train! How friggin' cool. He gave me pointers to alleviate the nerves when I go onstage to read at the benefit. Love that guy.

Oops, disregard that previous comment. Yes, Smashed was great. It made me address my drinking and realize that even tho I am not an alcoholic, I am a problem drinker.
